As part of the ADES 4660, Seminar in Design Management course at the University of North Texas, we were tasked with choosing a wicked problem and addressing this issue at a local level. Given that wicked problems are difficult and often impossible to solve due to contradictory and ever-changing laws and requirements, progress can be achieved by addressing these issues one niche at a time. This research is focused on tackling the ever-imposing issue of sustainability.
Sustainability consists of meeting our own needs while striving for a better future for future generations to come. Sustainable change must occur within the grassroots of a community in order to create awareness of an issue. Focusing directly within the school system, we will target students, educators, and parents with various initiatives on sustainability.
These initiatives will include guidebooks, activity plans, and workshops in order to activate knowledge on sustainability and action steps to become an advocate for the planet. To achieve long term solutions, we must educate the youth on sustainable practices, as they will eventually be the leaders within our community making the change.
